IK Multimedia AXE I/O SOLO in the Audio Interfaces category
A tailored guitar channel The AXE I/O SOLO provides a triple-topology instrument input designed to capture every unique detail of your guitars character. IK Multimedia’s powerful Z-Tone feature allows you to further adapt the input for any guitar or bass discovering sounds you never thought possible. The Z-Tone dial varies between ‘sharp’ and ‘bold’ via a user-controlled knob. This varies the tone from precise and tight right through to thicker and bolder. This becomes particularly beneficial when inputting bass guitars. Choose your pickup A switch located on the AXE I/O SOLO’s guitar channel is dedicated to choosing between active and passive pickups. This alters the interfaces response depending on your instrument’s pickup design. In passive mode the AXE I/O SOLO accommodates everything from low-output vintage pickups to hotter modern humbuckers. This is achieved with ultra-low noise and extended frequency response. In active mode the interface bypasses unnecessary gain stages when using active pick-ups. This ensures a signal path as direct and transparent as possible. Pick your channel The instrument input also offers a switch between ‘PURE’ and ‘JFET’ modes. When in ‘PURE’ mode the channel provides a completely transparent and ultra-accurate preamp circuit that will not add colour to your signal path. JFET mode introduces a Class A JFET input buffer to the circuit. This provides subtle harmonic enhancement midrange focus and warmth. PURE mic preamp AXE I/O SOLO offers a high-definition Class A mic preamp designed for transparent and clean recording. This provides an extended flat frequency response capable of capturing the full tonal range of the sound source. The best in class dynamic range also makes the mic preamp suitable for ultra-quiet recordings. Re-amplification has never been easier The AXE I/O SOLO offers a dedicated ‘Amp out’ which removes the need for external and often expensive re-amping setups. The output utilises a ground-isolated design and zero-latency routing to connect to your amp. This can then be easily mic’d up using AXE I/O SOLO’s microphone preamp. Record a clean take of your instrument with the Z-TONE channel then send it to various amps stomp boxes and settings until you find the perfect sound. About IK Multimedia
Even with advanced IK Multimedia manufacturing techniques, it isn’t possible to automate the production of great instruments like this IK Multimedia AXE I/O SOLO. The complexity of the task, combined with the need for constant awareness of the materials being used and the ability to adjust for minute variations, means that there is no substitute for the skill and sensitivity of experienced craftspeople.
Turning designs into great instruments isn’t easy. Technical drawings can’t convey the intended tone of an instrument, or the construction methodology required to create the desired characteristics and sound. Before building a new guitar can begin, the plans and intentions of the designers are discussed with the craftspeople at the factory in order to develop an appropriate production process. Every guitar is different, and coming up with the ideal production methodology and workflow for each guitar is critical.
